Winnie Lou Bramblett Tallant

Obituary Date: Friday, December 25, 2015
Completing a lifetime of service, Winnie Lou Bramblett Tallant, age 91, crossed over the River of Jordan on the 25th of December, 2015 to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her loved ones. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Edith Bramblett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert B. and Kathleen Tallant, Sr.; her husband of 49 years, Robert B. Tallant, Jr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annette and Horace Cain, Edna and R. W. Evans; brother-in-law, Claude Tallant. Winnie was also preceded in death by her niece, Jimmie Cain Cochran; great great nephew, Josh Wallace; and niece, Amelia Tallant Stripland.

Winnie was an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church for 78 years and was active in the Church leadership as long as her health permitted. In her early years she was active in numerous civic clubs. She worked for the Farmers Home Administration assisting many farmers with their financing needs. She was also active in the poultry industry for 25 plus years and she attended revivals at Holbrook Campground for 89 of her 91 years.

In the mid 1970s she became interested in genealogy and authored Migration of the Holbrook's from England to America and Forsyth County, GA and co-authored The Heritage and Descendants of David Tallant. She contributed to many other genealogy books throughout the years and was a member of the Forsyth County Historical Society. Winnie authored two additional books, Winnie's Anthology-A Journey Back in Time and Winnie's Words of Inspiration, giving posterity a look into the past about life growing up in Forsyth County. She was a wealth of knowledge invaluable to many as she received calls from all over the country as various researchers inquired about their own genealogy.

Winnie is survived by her son, Rex; her niece, Toni Smith; nephew and niece, Larry and Delores Evans; nephew, William C. Tallant; care givers, Judy Bearden and Janie Shelton and nurse Ebony with Embracing Hospice. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
