Dean Fletcher Smith

Mr. Dean Fletcher Smith, age 86, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015.
           

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 pm Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Steve Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the funeral home.
           

Dean lived his whole life in the North Hall area. He was born July 1, 1929, the son of the late Eston J. Smith and Beulah Chambers Smith. In his early years he was employed with the Georgia Chair Company, Hall County School Bus Shop then later he was the owner and operator of Dean Smith Paint and Body Shop where he expertly restored classic show cars. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, D.C. Smith and Tommie Gene Smith; sisters, Claressia Smith Bonnette, Snowdelle Smith Cochran and Mae Smith Chambers.
           

Dean Enjoyed gardening, hunting and classic hot rods. He picked flowers from his garden daily for his beloved wife of 66 years, Sarah.
           

Dean is survived by his wife, Sarah Ash Smith of Gainesville daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Ray Bailey; son & daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Donna Smith; grandchildren, Sandra Whelchel Simpson, Andrew Whelchel (Ashley), Emily Whelchel DeFoor (Nathan), Jacob Smith(Lauren); great-grandchildren, Sara Beth Simpson, Luke DeFoor and Gabriel DeFoor; sister-in-law, Ethel Elliott Smith..
