Grady Elliott Short, age 63, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016, following a lengthy illness.
Grady or as some say “Bubba” was born in Gainesville, Georgia on August 5, 1952. He graduated from Gainesville High School and attended Valdosta State College until he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He left the Army as a Corporal Cryptographer and returned to Gainesville. He worked at SKF for a number of years and had been working for the past 5 years at the Dahlonega Walmart. Grady’s gentle spirit and religious faith will be long remembered and admired by his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Grady Sue Jones Short Ward; brothers, Jack Malcolm Short (Donna) of Jasper, GA; H.B. (Bucky) Ward, III (Jenny) of Charlotte, NC; W.J. (Bill) Ward (Liz) of Cumming, GA; sisters, Helen Ann Short of Buford; Sandra Short Bigwood (Joel) of Palm Springs, CA; Susan Taylor Short, Asheville, NC. Grady had multiple nieces and nephews for whom he would buy tackle and fishing rods so they could enjoy fishing together.
Grady is preceded in death by his father, Jack Malcolm Short; grandparents, H. Grady Jones and Elizabeth Archer Jones and Swayne Elliott Short and Helen Matthews Short.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Dr. Steve Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
