Eunice Burns Shirley

Eunice Burns Shirley, age 69 of the Hollingsworth Community, Alto, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 following an extended illness.

 

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on February 06, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Willie Edward & Lizzie Phillips Burns. Mrs. Shirley was a retired food service manager from the Habersham County School System Nutrition Department with over 12 years of service. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and most of all, spending precious time with all of her family. Mrs. Shirley was a member of the Line Baptist Church in Alto.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Donald Shirley, sister and brother-in-law, Julia & Howard Armour, brothers, Oscar Burns, Leroy Burns, brothers-in-law, Junior Cunningham, Andrew “Boots” Wade, and sister-in-law, Sybil Burns.

 

Survivors include her children, Debbie & Jerry Anderson of Eastanollee, Sandy Shirley of Alto, sisters and brother-in-law, Vernie & Andy Johnson of Clarkesville, Nancy Cunningham of Ellenwood, Frances Wade & Minnie Lee Burns both of Demorest, brothers and sister-in-law, Wilson & Tex Burns of Clarkesville, Nelson Burns of Alto, sisters-in-law, Vernie Burns & Blanche Burns, both of Demorest, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy & Cathy Shirley of Erwin, NC; sister-in-law, Faye Shirley of Otto, NC;  grandchildren, Megan Waddell of Alto, Morgan & Brandi Myers of Demorest, Jerrica & Jayley Anderson both of Eastanollee; great-grandchildren, Kash & Sawyer Waddell of Clarkesville, & a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

 

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth McEntire and the Rev. Alvin Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Alto.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6- 8 pm on Monday.
