Candace Wedlake Wind

Mrs. Candace Wedlake Wind, age 63 of Dahlonega passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Born in Chamblee, Georgia on August 2, 1952 to parents Bruce Sidney and Jean Rexford Wedlake, Candace had lived in Lumpkin County. She was a homemaker and a member of Dahlonega United Methodist Church. She was proud to have graduated recently from the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Department Civilian Law Enforcement Academy.

Mrs. Wind was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Mike Wind, children; Christine Ann (Brian) Buffington, Gainesville, and Jeff (Michelle) Honea, of Cumming, grandchildren; Sidney Jane Emrey and Sarah Candler Emrey, both of Gainesville, Eva Mae Honea and Tallant Dean Honea, both of Cumming, sister-in-law; Michelle Alterman of Atlanta. A number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in the Dahlonega Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Ross officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice in Candace’s name.
