Ernest Whitlock

Mr. Ernest Whitlock, age 91, of Commerce, GA died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted Living.  Mr. Whitlock was born in Talmo to the late J.J. and Lillie Covington Whitlock.  He was a member of Blacks Creek Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer, senior adult men’s Sunday school teacher and chairman of the deacon body.  He was a 1944 graduate of Maysville High School.  Mr. Whitlock was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Georgia Department of Administration Services as a radio technician.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitlock was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Hix Whitlock.

Mr. Whitlock is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Merrill Bagwell and Patricia and Bob Watson all of Commerce; grandchildren, Seth Bagwell, Adam Bagwell (Jessica), Roxie Watson, Lillie Watson and Rosa Leigh Watson; great-grandchildren, Madi Bagwell and Rylee Bagwell; and sisters-in-law, Bertha Whitlock of Chickamauga and Faye Banks of Statham.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Saturday, March 5 at Blacks Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Wofford, Rev. Chad Rising, Rev. Lee Hunter and Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating.  Interment will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday night from 5 to 8 PM.  Adam Bagwell, Seth Bagwell, David Ledbetter, Bobby Vaughn, Greg Whitlock and Jackie Whitlock will serve as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 225, Commerce, GA 30529 or Blacks Creek Baptist Church, 3754 Blacks Creek Church Rd, Commerce, GA 30530.
