Herbert Edward Houston

Mr. Herbert Edward Houston, age 79 of Gainesville, won the victory over Alzheimer’s Disease on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at his residence.

            Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 1:30 pm at New Hope Baptist Church, Blakely, Georgia.  Reverend Kyle Houston will officiate.  The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

            Mr. Houston was born November 10, 1936 in Damascus, Georgia to the late Cherry Iverson Houston and Ruby Holley Houston.  He was retired from Pelham City School System as a Teacher and Principal.  Herbert was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, T. B. Houston and Butler Houston and 4 of his sisters, Nadine Middleton, Lessie Blenke, Marjorie Sanders and Ruby Lee Register.

            Mr. Houston is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bobbie Butler Houston of Gainesville, sons & daughters-in-law, Reid & Elaine Houston of Gainesville, Kirk & Karen Houston of Greenville, South Carolina and Kyle & Tami Houston of Rincon, Georgia, grandchildren, Lauren & Kaitlin, Holly & Hannah and Spencer & Peyton, brother, Ottis Houston of Lake City, Florida and sister, Ramona Gordon of Donalsonville, Georgia.
