Betty Jo Pierce Black

Obituary Date: Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Mrs. Betty Jo Pierce Black, better known as BC Day, age 80 of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016. 

 

Mrs. Black was born July 5th, 1935 to the late George Pierce and Marjorie Duckett Pierce. 

 

She retired from Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Lanier Park Hospital with 40 plus years. She then worked for Cleve Brown at Corner Drugs and then Scottie Barton at Riverside Pharmacy. She loved you all and all her friends at Lanier Village. 

 

Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Commander Harold G. Black, brother, the Rev. Jack Pierce and sisters, Mary Nell King, Claudine Gilstrap, and Willie Mae Brownlow. 

 

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Tony and Cathy Black, grandchildren Haley Black Corry and David Corry, Julie Black Oliver and Dustin Oliver, and great grandchildren, Makena and Jackson Corry and Tug and Catie Rell Oliver; sister, Dee Head; brothers and sisters-in-law, Reuben and Glenda Pierce, Bill and Dot Pierce; very special and loving friend Jane Brown and a number of nieces and nephews. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Dr. Tom Smiley and Rev. Kyle Savage will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
