Doris Williams Graham Terry

Obituary Date: Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Doris Williams Graham Terry passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15 with her daughters at her side.  Doris was born August 8, 1920 in the Flowery Branch community of Hall Co., to Millard Williams and Bonnie Stovall Williams.  The family moved to the Coal Mountain community when Doris was a child, and she would spend the majority of her life there on Spot Road.  In 1942 she married Harvey Graham of Townville, SC, but just 6 years into their marriage would become a widow with two young daughters.  Hardworking and devoted to her children, Doris would go on to raise the girls to adulthood as a single mother.  Many Cumming residents will remember her as the face that greeted all the walk-in customers of the local Georgia Power office.  In 1982, Doris would retire from Georgia Power with 34 years of service.  In 1980, Doris married childhood friend Doyle Terry and until his death in 1998, they enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and abroad.  Doris loved her family and friends.  She was the eldest member of her beloved Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

In addition to those listed above, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Lillian Williams Heard, Bowden Williams, Voncile Williams Barrett, Grady Lamar Williams, and brother-in-law Jeff Barrett.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Graham Wheeler (Waylon) and Helen Graham Nuckolls (Tom), step daughter Dee Terry Pierce (Troy), grandchildren Angie Wheeler Hansard (Tim), Richard Wheeler (Kristy), Jeffrey Nuckolls (Linda) and Bonnie Nuckolls Baty (Ryan), 6 Great Grandsons Jake and Dalton Hansard, Chess, Riley and Bentley Wheeler, John T. Baty and 1 Great Granddaughter Anna Grace Baty. She is also survived by sister-in-law Sue Williams, special caretaker Barbara Reeve, special friend Gene Scott, and all her loving friends and caretakers at White Oaks at Lanier and Embracing Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Bowling, Rev. Ted Miller, and her Great Nephew Rev. Gary Coffey officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 11:00 to 2:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 PM, and on Friday, from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Grove UMC, 3150 Pleasant Grove Road, Cumming, GA 30028.
