E.L. (Joe) Helton

Mr. E.L. “Joe” Helton, age 79 of Ila died Friday, March 18, 2016 at Northridge Health and Rehab. Mr. Helton was born in Gainesville to the late, John Andrew and Beulah Ash Helton. Mr. Helton was retired from the State of Georgia, member and a retired pastor at Rogers Baptist Church, and he was also a Korean War Air Force veteran.

Mr. Helton is survived by his wife, JoAnn Mize Helton of Ila; sons, Chris and Terry Helton both of Ila; brothers, Anthony Helton of NJ, Douglas Helton of Lula, Raymon “Corkey” Helton of NJ, and Y.D. Helton of Royston; sisters, Acie Chapman of Gainesville and Dorine Wilkerson of NJ; three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 20 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Taylor and Rev. Carlton Peters with the interment following at Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 5-8 PM.
