Mary Ruth Sykes Fowler

Mary Ruth Sykes Fowler, age 78, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas D. Fowler, Jr.

She is survived by her only sibling brother William I. Sykes, Jr., sister-in-law Nancy Sykes, of Gainesville, Georgia, nephew and niece-in-law Marty and Deanne Sykes, nephew Rodney Sykes, niece Jennifer Sykes, niece Macy Sykes, great-nephew Cameron Sykes, and Tom's family who she loved dearly.

Mrs. Fowler was a long-time resident of Gainesville. She was a graduate of Gainesville High School, Class of 1956, where she was very active. She sparkled on the football field as Head Majorette and was also a cheerleader for the Gainesville Red Elephants.

A successful business woman, Mrs. Fowler pursued her career after graduation with Jesse Jewel Operations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Pittsburg, PA.

After returning to the south, she and her husband resided in Atlanta where they opened a printing company. Mary Ruth continued to pursuit her education at Brenau University where she earned a degree in Business. Mary Ruth remained an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

Upon retiring, Mary Ruth and Tom relocated to Gainesville where they continued to live until each was called home to heaven.

A private celebration of Tom and Mary Ruth's lives will be held by their families and close friends.
