Lotta Hope Shelby

Obituary Date: Sunday, April 10, 2016
Lotta Hope Shelby, 95, of Cumming, GA died on April 10 at the Oaks at Hampton. Ms. Shelby moved to Atlanta in the 1940's from the Midwest and embraced the southern lifestyle. She was a Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile and was a part owner of Tuxedo Auto Parts in Sandy Springs until retirement.

Following retirement, Lotta moved to Cumming where she was an active member of Cumming Baptist Church, serving a number of committees. But she was most proud of being able to host the Shriner's July 4th party at her Lake Lanier home for 27 years. Memories of Lotta Shelby will be cherished by many who knew her.

A special thanks to the Oaks at Hampton Assisted Living for the compassionate care in her last years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in the chapel at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit on April 13 from 10:00 am until service time. Scott Uzzel, Chaplain of Crossroads Hospice will officiate. Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Lotta's life will be held at the Oaks at Hampton. She will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or the Shriners Hospitals (www.shrinershospitals.org/donate).
