Ronald Millard Galloway

Obituary Date: Monday, April 18, 2016

Ronald Millard Galloway, 88, of Gainesville, GA, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio and Brooksville, FL and born in Homestead, PA passed away April 18, 2016. His blue eyes and Impish spirit will be missed by his many friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Jane Whitacre Galloway; daughter Deborah Lynn Galloway of Alpharetta; David James Galloway and his wife Sherri of Dawsonville; grandchildren Joshua David Galloway of Wichita KS and Abigail Marie Galloway of Las Vegas, NV.

A retired postal worker, Ron was a WWII veteran and an ordained Presbyterian elder. He was a member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church and an active member of its Gadabouts Group.

He and Dot loved to travel, loved their friends, loved their family and loved life.

In Florida, Ron was Chairman of Trustees of Spring Hill United Methodist Church, Exalted Ruler of Brooksville Elks Lodge, Elks District Deputy and a board director for the Elks Camp.

In Ohio he was Past Master of Willoughby, formerly Pentalpha Masonic Lodge 636, and Masonic District Education Officer; President of the Past Masters in Al Sirat Grotto; Robertson Scotch Fellowcraft Team member; DeMolay Dad Advisers Chairman; Euclid Shrine President; President of the Eastside Shrine Bowling League; coach of Little League, Pony league, DeMolay Boys, and American Legion baseball teams; a volunteer fireman and volunteer auxiliary policeman.  These accomplishments pale against the fun and joy he brought to this world.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Kieth Ashley and Rev. David Bruchett will officiate. Interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Saturday April 23rd from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Ronald Galloway to the Gadabouts Group of the First United Methodist Church. Please address checks to the Gadabouts Group and send in care of First United Methodist Church, 2780 Thompson Bridge Rd, Gainesville, GA 30506.
