Emma Marthaline Wood Looper

Mrs. Emma Marthaline Wood Looper, age 89, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Morningside Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Earl Pirkle will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Friday, April 29, 2016 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Looper was born November 28, 1926 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Lee Wood and Helen Elizabeth (Satterfield) Wood. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church where she was known as Mama Looper. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, David Birdine Looper; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Grace Wood; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Levis Jordan.

Mrs. Looper is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Elaine Looper-Barnes (Ted) of Williamson, GA ; sons and daughters-in-law, David Wayne Looper (Linda) of Gainesville, GA ; James Daniel Looper (Debra) of Gainesville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Jayne Elizabeth Wilson (Keith) of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Mike Looper, Brian Looper, Jonathan Looper, Autumn Barnes, Arien McAlister, Asher Looper and 7 great-grandchildren; and adopted daughter, Brittany Strickland of Gainesville, GA.
