Pauline “Polly” Hallock

Pauline “Polly” Hallock, 87, died at Lanier Village on May 9, 2016 after living with Alzheimer’s disease for over ten years. She was born on June 20, 1928 in the “Goat Neck” vicinity of Cleveland, Georgia to Thomas and Jessie Edwards, and had five sisters and two brothers. Although life in a farming family during the Great Depression was hard, she was blessed to grow up in a loving, Christian home. She moved to Atlanta to attend Georgia State University for two years, and then started working for the Georgia Power Co. where she met and married Roger Irving Hallock, then working for IBM and servicing the computers where Polly worked.  Polly and Roger enjoyed a wonderful marriage and had the privilege of celebrating their 50^th anniversary in 2001 before Roger died in 2005.

During those years they not only raised three children, but shared a passion for international / adventure travel as well as philanthropy, and even taking on a foster child for one year. Polly was also an avid gardener, and enjoyed the company of her many friends in sewing and bridge clubs. Polly also enjoyed spending time at the family’s vacation home on Lake Burton in the mountains of North Georgia.

Polly is survived by her two sons and daughters-in law, Paul and B.J. and John and Ann Marie, her daughter Judith having sadly died from cancer in 2012. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bija Johnson, Willow Plummer, Ty Hallock, Lindsey Hallock, Grey Hallock, Scott Hallock, Christopher Hallock; five great grandchildren, Gavin Stebbins, Juliet Johnson, Ashtyn Plummer, Knox Plummer Alessandra Pop; siblings, Katie McCollum, Frank Edwards, Velma Hedberg.

She is lovingly remembered by all of her progeny for her motherly love, her inspiring model as a hard worker, her devotion to her family, and her Christian faith.

 The family attended northwest Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia while they were living there. After the children were grown, Polly and Roger built and lived in three different homes north of Atlanta, eventually living in Alpharetta. Polly moved into Lanier Village in Gainesville in 2006 where she was lovingly cared for during the long years of decline. The estate of Roger and Polly will continue to do God’s work for many years to come.

A memorial service will be held at Lanier Village Estates at a later date.
