Rilla Carter

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Rilla “Nettie Mae” Carter, age 71, of Jefferson, who passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016. Mrs. Carter was born in Jackson County, a daughter to the late Lloyd and Annie Jane Lee Brooks. Mrs. Carter was a Homemaker and member of Revival Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by sister, Freddie Ruth Smith, brother, Harrison Brooks, four other sisters, and her special Aunt and Uncle, Mary and Willie Brooks.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband, Ronald Carter; son and daughter in law, Chris and Kasey Carter of Jefferson; grandson, Shannon Carter, Braselton; sister, Betty Smith of Jefferson, Frances Skinner of Arcade, Alfred Brooks of Nicholson and Donald Brooks of Jefferson; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Whisnant, Rev. Larry Lee and Rev. Bascom Skelton officiating. The burial will follow in the Revival Baptist Church Cemetery with Johnny Hayes, Don Brooks, Roger Martin, Bobby Skinner, Joshua Bryant and Jeremy Sullivan honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 – 9 PM at Evans Funeral Home.
