O. B. Johnson, Jr

Mr. O. B. Johnson, Jr., age 79, of Alto, formerly of Flowery Branch, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery.  Rev. Chris Webb, Rev. Keith Truelove and Rev. Chris Hulsey will officiate.  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00, Friday, July 22, 2016 and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson was born March 9, 1937 to the late Otis Benjamin Johnson, Sr. and Mary Idell Johnson in Cumming, Georgia.  He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Cornelia and had been an active Deacon at Heavens View Baptist Church in Flowery Branch from 2000 – 2007.  Mr. Johnson was retired from Scientific Atlanta in 1989, then continued to work at Ciba Vision Inc. until his retirement in 2000.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Johnson, Dorsey Johnson, Inez Sosebee, and Lucille Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vantine Sosebee Johnson of Alto; children, Steve & Shannan Johnson of Braselton and Sandra & Lee Sutton of Alto; 7 grandchildren, Steve A. Johnson, Matt S. Johnson, Lori E. Burgess, Daniel L. Sutton, Brittney D. Johnson, Ashley V. Hulsey and L. Brooke Hutto; 7 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jack & Betty Johnson of Elijay, Carl & Patsy Johnson of Elberton and Margie Barrett of Winder.
