Dorothy Saggus Ballew

Dorothy Saggus Ballew of Buford, GA passed away August 13, 2016.  She was the wife of Thomas M. Ballew and daughter of the late Marshall Oliver and Grace Saggus of Atlanta.  Dorothy was born in Atlanta on January 26, 1929.  She grew up in the Morningside area, married and moved to Stuggart, Germany where her husband was stationed.  She graduated from Morningside School, Girls High and Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia with double major in music and Medical Science.  She was the assistant director of the choir and organist at Morningside Baptist Church for many years.  Her medical background as a Medical Technician for two doctors was enjoyable.  She took time off to raise their two children then began her successful Real Estate career as an associate broker.  She enjoyed her four grandchildren and surely will be missed.  Her spirit of giving and marveling of all aspects will live on in all who loved her.  During Christmas season she loved to entertain and decorate the house.  Dorothy loved to travel with her family in a motor home or have leisure time on a houseboat and pontoon.   In her retirement from medical and real estate careers, she traveled to many foreign countries with her husband.  She was a faithful member of Believers SS Class at Hebron Baptist Church.  She is survived by her husband Thomas M. Ballew, a daughter, Lisa Ballew Christopher, son in-law, Jon Christopher, a son, Glen T. Ballew, a daughter in-law, Sharon Ballew, four grandchildren, Danielle and Andrea Christopher, Chelsea and Garrett Ballew, a sister, Betty Ann Sage, in-laws and many nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 2:30 PM at Hebron Baptist Church, Dacula, GA.  Dr. Kenneth Lester and Rev.
