Elizabeth Ann Varner

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Varner, age 73 of Commerce died Friday, August 19, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital.  Mrs. Varner was born in Carnesville to the late, W.H. Phillips and Gladys Elizabeth Bennett Waters.  Mrs. Varner was retired from Commerce City School System where she worked in the lunchroom and she was a member of Bold Spring United Methodist Church.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Varner was preceded in death by her sister, Nana May Phillips.

Mrs. Varner is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bernard Varner of Commerce; sons, Greg Varner and Barren Varner (Tammie) of Commerce; daughter, Renee Hopper of Commerce; five grandsons, Austin, Jake, and Dylan Varner    , Zach and Nicholas Hopper; brothers, Denver, Harold, Jerry, Darrell, David, Perry, and Terry Phillips; sisters, Joyce Fowler, Christine Phillips, and Sylvia Brock.

Funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 22 at 3:00 PM from Bold Spring United Methodist Church with Rev. Jared Evans, Rev. Doug Duncan, and Rev. Larry Dyer officiating with the interment following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5-8 PM.
