Peggy Harper Raines; 78, a native of Evergreen Al. and a resident of Cumming Ga passed away August 26 at Northside Hospital in Cumming Ga. Peggy had been a resident at Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home for several years. Her family was with her as she went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Peggy was predeceased in death by her father William Cecil Harper, her mother Marjorie Hyde Harper and brother Edwin Harper all from Evergreen Al.
Peggy is survived by her loving and devoted husband John Matthew Raines Jr. One daughter Melynda Raines Reilly (Phil) and one son Allen Matthew Raines (Jen) both from Cumming Ga. Four Grandsons Philip Reilly (Bonnie), Trevor Reilly, Johnny Raines and Mark Raines. Two Great Grandchildren Harper Rae Reilly and James Camden Reilly.; all from Cumming, Ga. One brother Danny Harper (Sue), Niece Gina Harper McIntyre (Mike) and grand nephew Max from Evergreen, Al.
Peggy grew up in Evergreen Al. where she graduated from Evergreen High School and then attended two years at Troy State Teacher College. Peggy married her husband John on October 4th 1959. They lived in 12 States before returning to Evergreen in 1995.While in Evergreen she was an active member of Evergreen Baptist Church. She remained in Evergreen until 2009 when her and her husband John move to Cumming Ga. to be near their children and grandchildren.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mom, and Ning (AKA Grandma) she was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
