George W. Heindel

Obituary Date: Friday, August 26, 2016

George W. Heindel, age 96, passed away on August 19, 2016, at Rejuvnia House in Gainesville, Georgia.  

He is survived by son, George Heindel, Jr. (wife, Jane Ann) of Seneca, South Carolina and daughter, Marilyn Katzenmeyer, (husband, William) of Tampa, Florida and Sky Valley, Georgia; two grandsons, Allen Heindel of Tampa, Florida and Dennis Heindel of Milford, Kansas, and two great grandsons.

 He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Mabel (Coy) Heindel; his brothers, Artheil and Marlin Heindel; and his wives, Jane Houston Heindel, Charlotte Solie Heindel, and Helene Miller Heindel.

George worked as a machinist at United Engineering in Youngstown, Ohio, for 22 years, and as a foreman at Morgan Engineering in Alliance, Ohio for 18 years. After retirement in 1984, he served as sexton at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alliance, Ohio, until 1998 when he moved to Wesley Chapel, Florida. He was born in North Lima, Ohio, where he graduated high school in 1938. He served in the US Navy in World War II in the South Pacific.

He will be buried at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in North Lima, Ohio. Memorial contributions in George’s memory may be made to Mount Olivet United Church of Christ, 410 W. South Range Road, North Lima, Ohio 44452 or Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3925 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
