George LeRoy Inman

Obituary Date: Thursday, September 8, 2016
INMAN, George LeRoy
Age 89, of Johns Creek, GA was called home to be with his Savior on Thursday morning, September 8, 2016.  George was born on December 21, 1926 in Berwyn, Illinois to Margaret Louise Inman Carney.  In 1929 he was adopted and raised by his grandparents Mabel and Leon Inman.
George worked for the Village of Brookfield, IL for 31 years.  When the infamous Chicago snowstorm of 1967 crippled northeastern Illinois with a record 23 inches, George plowed the snow off the streets around the clock for three days.  He helped keep the Village running.  George loved to share stories about his work and how he survived some harrowing misadventures.  When a coworker dropped a brick on his head, George wasn’t hurt but the brick broke in half.  George had a hard head.
After George retired, he and his wife Marie moved to Sugar Land, Texas in 1998 to be closer to his daughter Debbie.  When Debbie and her husband Dave moved to Johns Creek, GA in 2007, George and Marie moved with them and lived together under the same roof.
George is survived by his wife Marie (married 58 years), his daughter Deborah S. Peck (husband Dave), and grandsons David and Christopher.  The funeral service will be held at Living Faith Lutheran Church (1171 Atlanta Highway, Cumming GA 30040) on Sunday, September 11th at 2:30 pm, followed by burial at Sawnee View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Village of Brookfield, IL Police Department, or Living Faith Lutheran Church building fund.
