Blanche Garland

Blanche Garland, age 87 of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016. 

Mrs. Garland was born February 26, 1929 in Waynesville, NC to the late Reuben and Bida Messer Rathbone. Blanche was a housekeeper for Northeast Georgia Medical Center and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Horace Garland. 

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Fred Thomas, Gainesville; Hazel and Ricky Umbehant, Cornelia; daughter, Edith Akin, Cleveland; sisters, Annie Burchfield, New Jersey; Ola Sutton, Kathleen Franklin, both of North Carolina; grandchildren, Darrell Turner, Kellah Watkins, Clint Umbehant, Wesley Thomas; great grandchildren, Tim Turner, Tyler Turner, Collin Watkins, Clair Watkins, Courtney Barrett, Kaelia Williams, Tristian Wood; great-great grandchildren, Lillian Turner and Cannon Turner. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Woodlawn Baptist Church. The Rev. Mickey Umbehant, the Rev. Milton Harris and the Rev. Joey Lyons will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
