Margaret Ann Thurman Ott

Obituary Date: Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Funeral Mass for Margaret Ann Thurman Ott, age 86 of Clarkesville will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM from the St. Mark Catholic Church with Fr. Rev. José Luis Hernandez-Ayayala officiating. Interment will follow the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Ott passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 8, 1930, Mrs. Ott was the daughter of the late James Oscar and Louise Blackwelder Thurman. She was a homemaker and and was one of the kindest, most gentle, loving, and patient people one could meet. Mrs. Ott was a very spiritual lady and had a close relationship with the Lord. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and she enjoyed sharing her talents as a cook, oil painter and a knitter with those she loved. Children brought much pleasure to her life, especially babies. Mrs. Ott spent lots of time visiting with folks in nursing homes, especially those that had no other family. In her spare time, Mrs. Ott enjoyed reading and writing letters, as well as camping and traveling coast to coast.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ott is preceded in death by a son David Coffey as well as two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband John Charles Ott of Clarkesville, daughter Jami Deanne Hoffman of Hull, daughter Margaret Christina “Chrissy” Lespinasse (husband Christopher and daughter Heather) of Hoschton, sons Ron Coffey (wife Betty) of Mt. Airy, Chuck Coffey (Wife Jamie) of Lisle, Illinois, and Danny Ott of Clarkesville, as well as 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
