Mrs. Alma Turner Key, passed away November 29, 2016 after a brief illness at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Brian Malcomb will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Alma moved to Gainesville about 15 years ago from Lake Worth, Fl. She lived most of her adult life in FL.
She is preceded in death by her father Rev. John Thomas Turner; mother , Alma Sayers Turner; her husband, Charles Key; her three daughters, Barbara, Vanessa and Patty and special niece, Ruth Cash.
Mrs. Key is survived by her granddaughters, Terry Young of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Rene Hernandez of New Orleans, LA.; great granddaughters, Rachel and Shannon; nieces and caregivers, Faye Allison, Sydna Franklin and Shirley and Talmadge Winkler; nephews, Vernon and Wilbert Graves and several great nieces and great nephews.
Alma was a devoted Christian. She was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Opal Sunday School Class. She was very fond and loved all her church friends along with her pastor Brian Malcolm. Alma’s career span include a wide variety. The naval base in Charleston, SC, Swift Packing in Atlanta to Krispy Kreme and The Villas in Pembroke Pines, Fl. Her last was Motorola in Fl.
Alma helped raise her two granddaughters Terry and Rene. Their mother Barbara died when they were eight or nine years old.
