Ruby Pauline Reed Strickland

Mrs. Ruby Pauline Reed Strickland, age 95, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 following an extended illness She was born in Gainesville, GA. On February 2, 1921 to the late Alfred and Omie Reed.

Mrs. Strickland loved the Lord and at the time of her death was the oldest member of Grace Baptist Church. She read a chapter of the Bible every night as long as she was able. She also loved flowers and was an avid Gardner. She loved to grow many different kinds of flowers, but her favorite were her roses. She also love crafting, quilting and crocheting.

Mrs. Strickland was a tremendous caregiver to her family and friends. She was a loving person who took care of a number of family members through the years. She was a great homemaker and wonderful cook.

She is preceded in death by her husband, C.C. Strickland; stepdaughter, Sue Wilson; stepsons, Robert Strickland, William Strickland; son in law, Ronald Farmer; brother, Clyde Reed and sister Lula Pethel.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean Farmer; son, Boone Strickland and wife Ann; son, Boyd Strickland and wife Patti; grandchildren, Connie Small and husband, Allie; Kenneth Farmer and his wife, Jamie; David Strickland and wife, Caroline; Shane Mathis and wife, Terri; great grandchildren, Ryan Farmer, Austin Farmer, Alex Newsom, Micah Strickland, Miranda Strickland, Shane Mathis, Jr., Mikayla Mathis, Hunter Mathis; step daughters in law, Linda Strickland and Margaret Strickland; 7 step grandchildren as well as a number  of step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special thanks are also given to caregiver, Shirley Smith.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Phil Carpenter and Rev. Boone Strickland will officiate Interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
