J.D. Hamby

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday December 30, 2016 at Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for J.D. Hamby age 79 of Gainesville. The Rev. Kenneth Pilcher and Rev. Bill Trotter will officiate. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Hamby passed away Monday December 26, 2016.

Mr. Hamby was born in Hall County to the late Clyde Hamby and Bessie Evelyn McIntyre Hamby. He had worked at the Chicopee Mill and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his brothers Earnest Jimmy Hamby and Clyde Edward Hamby.

Survivors include wife, Joan Juanita Hamby, Gainesville, sons, James David Hamby, Flowery Branch, William Darryl Hamby, Alabama, daughter, Kathy Darlene Hamby Hollis, Gainesville, stepchildren, Ann Taylor, Winder, Wayne Sullens, Cleveland, Shane Sullens, Gainesville, brother, Jesse Lavone Hamby, Louisiana, sisters, Glennis Dale Hamby, Gainesville, Vernice Garmon, Gainesville, 11 grandchildren, large number of great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
