Rosean (Rosie) White Lehr

Obituary Date: Monday, December 26, 2016

Rosean (Rosie) White Lehr of Gainesville, GA passed away at home on December 26, 2016, after a long struggle with pain and illness.  Born on December 10, 1952 in Aiken, SC to Joseph Clinton White and Betty Rose Orders White, she spent most of her childhood in Gainesville, GA as the oldest of three siblings.  She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1971 and then pursued her dream of following in her mother’s and grandmother’s footsteps as a nurse by attending the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, graduating in 1975.  She then spent the majority of her adult life as a nurse at Egleston Children’s Hospital of Emory University, working primarily with newborn infants in need of intensive care.

Rosie was born a fighter, coming into this world 2 months premature and spending her first 32 days fighting for life in a neonatal ICU.  She was always a caregiver; putting others before herself.  As the eldest of three children, she always looked out for her two younger brothers, Randy and Ben.  Her fighting spirt and passion for caregiving helps explain her career in nursing and for accepting the challenging role of working with premature infants in need of intensive care at Egleston Children’s Hospital for more than 32 years.

Rosie also loved the outdoors; beginning with her years in Girl Scouts, and then serving as camp nurse at YMCA Camp High Harbor.   She loved kids, loved nursing, and loved taking care of others.

Rosie is survived by her parents Joe & Betty White, her sons Andrew James Lehr (Drew) and Matthew Douglas Lehr (Matt), her former husband Doug Lehr, her brothers Randy White and Ben White, and last but not least her cat Jack.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (www.choa.org); or First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, 800 S Enota Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the people at Helping Hand Home Care.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Little-Davenport Funeral Home on Thursday December 29th, from 6 PM to 8 PM.  Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian Church, Friday December 30th, at 1 PM with a reception to follow.
