John Henry Smart, Jr.

John Henry Smart Jr. passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve shortly after 9 pm after succumbing to complications from lung disease.

John is preceded by; his parents John Smart Sr. and Dorothy Brogdon Smart, his wife Marjorie Witt Smart, and his daughter Deborah Suzanne Williams.

He is survived by his sons John Henry Smart III and his wife Kelly, Daniel Brogdon Smart, and Joseph Michael Smart and his wife Aimee; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and twin sister, June Wood. Also survived by his sister-in-law Joan Harte and her husband Jack and brother-in-law Terri Yalkut.

John was born on April 30, 1934 in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from North Fulton High School in 1952. He attended the University of Georgia and rushed Chi Phi. He moved to Forsyth County in 1966 where he resided most of his life. He worked for Kingsberry Homes for more than 15 years and Aqualand Marina for about 15 years. After retiring he built Margie’s Place on Pilgrim Mill Road and eventually Pilgrim Mill Emissions and worked up until one month before his passing at 82 years of age. He was an avid car and train enthusiast and enjoyed building model planes from balsa wood.
