Rosalie "Rosie" Sutton Free

Funeral services for Rosalie "Rosie" Sutton Free, age 95 of the Batesville community of Clarkesville will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 2 PM from the Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Free, Rev. Scott Doster, Rev. Ruel Martin and Rev. Clark Watson officiating.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. 

Mrs. Free passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016. 

Born May 17, 1921, Mrs. Free was the daughter of the late Frank and Essie Mae Allen Sutton.  She was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church, active as a Sunday school teacher, as well as with BTU and Vacation Bible School.  She was also active with the Batesville Fire Belles and the Providence Homemakers Club.  Mrs. Free worked at Orbit Mfg. and retired from E. Benjamin as a bookkeeper. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Free is preceded in death by husband Woodrow Free, Sr., brothers Andrew Sutton and Ralph Sutton, sister Lona Brooks and two great granddaughters. 

Mrs. Free is survived by daughter and son-in-law Karen and Johnny Franklin of Mt. Airy, daughter Carol Moore Warren of Canton, sons Frank and Phyllis Free of Flowery Branch and Woodrow and Pat Free of Clarkesville, as well as sister-in-law Betty Sutton of Clarkesville.  She is also survived by grandchildren Bobby Free, Chan Roach, Michael Free, Michelle Akins, Kevin Moore, Melanie Rice, Christopher Free, Stephanie Wood, Matt Moore, Christopher Akins, Kelly Franklin, David Akins and Jonathan Franklin, as well as 26 great-grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel from 5 PM to 9 PM.
