The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the funeral home.

Dina Lee Fidler was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and grew up in the Fairfields neighborhood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  She graduated from Baton Rouge High School, and received bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in Education from Louisiana State University. She taught junior high school History and English in public schools in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Dina married Theodore “Ted” Rodney Robinson, M.D. in Baton Rouge in 1965.  They had three children, Ellen, born in Cincinnati, Wesley and Alison, both born in Baton Rouge.  In 1977 they moved to Gainesville, Georgia.

Dina tutored students with learning disabilities at Brenau College for many years.  She was a member of the Creative Arts Study Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville for forty years.

Dina was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ted, who  passed away earlier in 2016.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, Leland Willis Fidler and Belva Rexroad Fidler, and her sister Sara Lou Fidler Barrow and brother-in-law Wylie C. Barrow of Baton Rouge.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Theodore Wesley Robinson and Jill Forcier Robinson of Gainesville; her daughter, Laura Ellen Robinson of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; and her daughter and son-in-law, Alison Robinson Styring and Michael William Lamont of Olympia, Washington; her brother brother Frank Willis Fidler and sister-in-law Vivian Fidler of Carrolton, GA; sister Jane Olmstead of Honolulu, HI; sister Joan Parsons of Waco, Tx. She dearly loved her eight grandchildren, Eric Daniel and Megan Daniel, of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; Madeline Robinson, Hank Robinson, and Vivian Robinson, of Gainesville, Georgia; and Benjamin Lamont, Abby Lamont and Emma Lamont, of Olympia, Washington. She adored and was adored by many nieces and nephews.

“Nini” acted as the center of her extended family, passing on and sharing information with her siblings and their families.  She remained connected to people throughout her life through frequent phone calls and letters.  Through these small and constant acts of friendship, Dina enriched the lives of everyone around her; probably more than she knew. She was genuinely curious about everyone she met, and people know that they were important to her.
