Robert L. “Bob” Townsend

Robert L. “Bob” Townsend, age 76 of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

Born in Gainesville, Georgia on June 07, 1940, he was a son of the late Sidney Lanier Townsend & Elizabeth Patterson Townsend. Mr. Townsend was a United States Army Veteran and a graduate of Lanier Technical College. He was retired as a supervisor with Hormel Foods. Mr. Townsend enjoyed gardening, fishing, & piddling around in his yard. He also enjoyed watching western movies. Mr. Townsend was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Gainesville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sidney L. “Sid” Townsend.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce L. Townsend of Demorest, GA; son, Bobby Townsend (Holly) of Baldwin, GA; daughters, Shanda Townsend Hatcher (Jody), Patricia Townsend Hambrick all of Demorest, GA; sister & brother-in-law, Jean & Jerry Mote of Demorest, GA; brother Charles R. “Mutt” Townsend & Phyllis Townsend of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Dillan Hatcher of Talmo, GA, Chelsey Lewis of Demorest, GA; great-grandchildren, Kinley Hatcher & Hayden Hatcher, aunt, Patricia Heaton of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
