James Millard Stephens

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. James Millard Stephens, age 72 of Hoschton, Georgia who entered into rest Thursday, January 26, 2017.  Mr. Stephens was born in Thomaston, Georgia a son of the late Clarence Arthur and Virginia Young Stephens, was a member of Northeast Church in Braselton, Georgia and the Atlanta Police Bass Club, enjoyed fishing, being on Lake Hartwell, High School and College Football and was a car show enthusiast.  Mr. Stephens proudly served his country during the Vietnam War resulting in him being a Totally Disabled Veteran, was a proud man, husband, father and grandfather.  In addition to his parents Mr. Stephens is preceded by a sister; Jerrell Banister.

Survivors include Mr. Stephens wife, Connie Watts Stephens of Hoschton, three sons, Danny Stephens and his wife Tracy of Cumming, Craig Stephens and his wife Dawn of Sugar Hill, and Thomas “T.J.” Stephens and his wife Valerie of Lawrenceville.  Sister, Joyce Stephens of Thomaston and brother, Randy Stephens and his wife Patricia of Rex.  Nine grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 30, 2017 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Harbin officiating with burial to follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1372 Atwater Road, Thomaston, Georgia 30286.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 29, 2017.  Members of the Atlanta Police Bass Club will be honored as pallbearers.
