Ruby Stamey Benfield

Ruby “Nanny B” Stamey Benfield, age 88, of Clarkesville, Georgia, went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Benfield was born on October 14, 1928, in the Batesville Community. She was a daughter of the late Sam and Lillie Barron Stamey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Brady Benfield; infant son, Ronnie Benfield; brothers: Lloyd Morrison, Clarence Stamey, and Hubert Stamey; sister, Minnie Stamey Langford; and son-in-law, Larry Dover. Mrs. Benfield retired from Mt. Vernon Mills with 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Benfield, Clarkesville and Jeanne Benfield Dover, Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Benfield and Steve London, Demorest; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Stamey Anderson and Bill, Clarkesville and Willene Stamey Terrazas and Armando, Cumming; brother and sister-in-law, Willard Stamey and Ann, Cleveland; grandchildren and spouses, Shane and Kristie Dover and Shawn and Alysia Dover; grandchildren, Julie London and Christopher London; and great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Carley, Sutton, Slade, and Seth Dover.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Doug Porter and Mr. Shane Dover officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the funeral home.
