Nellie Inez Elrod Kimsey

Nellie Inez Elrod Kimsey, age 101 of Clarkesville passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

Born in Habersham County on January 13, 1916, she was a daughter of the late James “Jim” and Anna Chapman Elrod. Mrs. Kimsey worked as a secretary and office manager for Cleveland Sports Wear and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano and played at every church Rev. Kimsey pastored. Mrs. Kimsey was the last surviving member of her immediate family

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. R.H. Kimsey; son-in-law, Doyle Smith; infant great granddaughter, Kara Grace; 3 brothers and 7 sisters.

Survivors include her son, Mac Kimsey of New York and wife Ria; daughter, Linda Smith of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Mickie & Bob Stamey of Clarkesville and Joy & Jimmy King of Mt. Airy ; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, February 6, 2017 from the Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Doster officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 pm until the service hour on Monday at Providence Baptist Church.
