Robert Marion Whitmire

Mr. Robert Marion Whitmire, age 76 of Watkinsville, Georgia passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Silver Leaf in Athens, Georgia.

A son of the late Yoda J. and Pearl Davis Whitmire, he was born February 13, 1941 in Stephens County, Georgia having most of his life in California and the last five years in Watkinsville, Georgia.  He was a 1959 graduate of Toccoa High School and a 1966 graduate of the University of Georgia, Terry School of Business.  He was a former Owner/Operator of Whitmire Hygiene Corporation.  He attended Athens Church, was a member of Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge in California and Georgia. He was devoted to his love for music.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Shirley Pitts Whitmire; daughter, Stacey Margaret Whitmire of Athens, Georgia; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Truett and Babbs Whitmire of Louden, Tennessee, Asbury and Susan Whitmire of Thomaston, Georgia and his twin brother Richard Whitmire and wife Kathy of Thousand Oaks, California; two sisters, Myrtice Moore of Florence, South Carolina and Polly Snyder of Toccoa.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25, 2016, 2 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Adam Waters, Tom Moore, Eddie Mitchell, Josh Martin, Mark Marchaud, Quinton Whitmire and Brad Whitmire.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from noon until the service time.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Robert Marion Whitmire.
