Richard Miller Kelley

Richard Miller Kelley, age 76 of Cleveland, Georgia, formerly of Toccoa, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.

Richard was born July 02, 1940 in Toccoa, Georgia, to the late Harold Kelley and Sara Louise Miller Kelley.  He retired from Georgia Power Company in 2002 after 39 years of service.  He always enjoyed the fellowship of the good folks in White County and in his younger years was active in many civic organizations.  He was a charter member of the Rotary Club of White County, on the committee that established ambulance service to White County, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Industrial Authority to name a few.  He served eight years with the Army National Guard of Georgia with an honorable discharge in October of 1967.  He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland.

Richard is survived by wife of 51 years, Julianne Payne Kelley, his daughter and son in law, Kimberly and Keith Bowen of Greenwood, South Carolina; his son and daughter in law, Rick and Starla Kelley of Cleveland; his two precious grandsons, Nash Bowen and Hudson Kelley; his brother and sister in law, James and Brenda Kelley of Toccoa; his sister in law, Betty Payne of Toccoa; a niece and several nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, followed by interment at Stephens

Memorial Gardens in Toccoa.  The Reverend Dennis Turner and the Reverend Bucky Erwin will officiate.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Sheriff Neal Walden, William Thornton, Alton McConnell, Billy Adams, Bobby Adams, Scott Payne, and Clay Kelley.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 5 until 8 PM.
