David MaShun Martin

David MaShun Martin was called home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. He was born on December 8, 1972, to Rev. David J. Martin and Cornelia Hill Martin in Gainesville, Georgia, the first born.  He joined Bethel A.M.E. at an early age.

Soon after graduating from Gainesville High School in 1991, he joined the US Army where he served for 8 years. During his stint in the army he served as a 54B10 Chemical Operation Specialist and moved to the rank of Sargent.  He also received an associate degree in Business from Perimeter College. Later in life, Shun began a career as a trunk driver at Millis Transport Company.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his Father, David J. Martin; His mother, Cornelia Hill Martin; 3 sisters Mr. and Mrs. Darrell (Angela) Howard of Hoover Alabama, Mr. Randy (Tiffanie) Davenport and Clarissa Martin, both of Gainesville, Georgia.  Two precious nephews: Jaden and Joshua Howard; One uncle, Robert (Betty) Hill; Two aunts:  Earnestine Bonds and Geraldine Wells of Gainesville, Georgia.  He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of cousins, relatives, and friends from near and far.  Special friends Lottie M. Carter of Killeen, Texas; Domethia Jackson of Austin, Texas and Phillip Carter and the Carter family of Gainesville, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
