Mr. W. Ralph Long, age 82, of Murrayville, GA passed away suddenly at his residence on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Born February 27, 1935 in Kennesaw, Georgia to parents Joe Roy and Lillian Waller Long, Ralph had lived in the Murrayville area since 1976 having moved from Woodstock. He was most recently retired from the Lumpkin County School System as a bus driver.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Monroe Long and most recently, by his wife , Shirley Wilkins Long. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Debra and Randall Smith, daughter; Jay Gordon, all of Murrayville, grandchildren; Michael Pinion, Christopher Pinion, Matthew Smith, John Smith, great-grandchildren; Taylor Pinion, Carter Pinion, Jackson Smith, Luke Smith, and Maris Smith. Three sisters, three brothers and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in the Dahlonega Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6th at the funeral home.
