Lucille Hughey Cooper

Mrs. Lucille Hughey Cooper entered eternal rest on March 12, 2017 after a brief illness.  She was born May 8, 1937 in Jackson County Georgia to the late Rev. V.S. (Vasco, Sr.) and Mrs. Lucy Bell Martin Hughey.   

For many years Mrs. Cooper served as musician and choir director for various churches and church associations in Jefferson, Athens and Gainesville, while fulfilling her pastoral wife role. 

She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, the Rev. Roger E. Cooper, her daughter, Juanita L. Cooper of Charlotte, NC; her brothers, Willie (Annie Maude) Hughey, Ret. Army, and Vasco Hughey Jr, both of Jefferson; the Rev. J. T. (Glenda) Hughey, Athens, Ga; Ralph Hughey, Ret. Navy, Jacksonville, Fl; John L (Brenda) Hughey, Ret. Air Force, Gainesville, Ga, and Bobby (Vivian)Hughey, Ret. Army, Stone Mountain, Ga; brother-in-law, Warren Pittman of Dublin, Ga; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and church friends.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Galilee Christian Church, 2191 Galilee Church Rd, Jefferson, Ga.  Visitation will at the church from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.  Forestglen Mortuary is servicing the Cooper Family.
