Robert L. "Bob" Patrick

Robert Leroy “Bob” Patrick, age 86 of Clarkesville, passed away on April 11, 2017 at Habersham County Medical Center. He was the husband of Betty Short Patrick. They shared 52 years of marriage together.

Born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Robert Hugh and Edna Irene Beckwith Patrick. He graduated from Cairo High School in 1948. He joined the Navy in January of 1951, and served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in December of 1956. Robert enrolled at California College of Commerce and graduated in 1959 with a degree in Higher Accounting. After moving to Florida in 1962, he worked with Edwards and Osbornes, CPA and then as an internal auditor with General Telephone Company of Florida. During his time with the telephone company, he met the apple of his eye, Betty Loue Short, who would be his best friend and the love of his life for 52 years. Robert moved with his family to Rogersville, Tennessee in 1982 to be the accountant for StopNSave Convenience Stores. In 1984, Robert and his family came to Clarkesville, Georgia to work for Lovana Farms. With the encouragement and support of the Lovell’s, Robert started his own tax consulting business in 1985 from which he retired after 30 years in practice. Robert was a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years. He will be remembered for his strong faith in God and his love for his family and country.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arden Eugene Patrick; sister, Elmina Mae Patrick.

He is survived by his wife Betty Loue Short Patrick; son and fiance, Robert Merville Patrick & Crystal Leon of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law,  Jason Alan & Karen Patrick of Kingsport, TN; grandson and fiance, Daniel Thomas Patrick & Shasta Helton of Sevierville, TN; grandsons, Dylan McKensie Patrick of Maysville, Graham Alan Patrick of Kingsport, TN; sisters and brothers-in law, Marlene & Russ Archer of California, Charlotte & Kenneth Browning of California; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leary & Belinda Short of Florida; many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am, Saturday, April 15, 2017 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. John Geerdes and Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Interment will follow in Clarkesville City Cemetery with military honors provided by Georgia National Guard, the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Habersham County American Legion Post #84, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the funeral home.
