Alphine Gorman

Alphine Gorman, 91, left here to go to her Heavenly home on April 29, 2017.  Born to Roscoe and Nolia Turner, she was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother to those who loved her dearly.  To all of her grandkids, she was their “Mee-Maw”.

Alphine was a homemaker for most of her life.  She had many different jobs during her 91 years, but being at home and enjoying the simple things was what she cherished most.

A woman of strong faith, Alphine loved her church family at Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church in Ellijay, Georgia.  She always referred to her church family as her brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, infant daughter, and grandson.  She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward; daughters – Katherine Dale, Arlene (George) Thurman, Connie (Tinker) Head, Betty (Preston) Jones, and Karen (Steve) Sutherland; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and her sister, Shirley Massad.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the kind and loving care they provided during her illness.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 1, at 2 p.m. at Dahlonega Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Monday, May 1, from noon until 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center in her memory.
