Ruth Haynes Murff Hamrick

Mrs. Ruth Haynes Murff Hamrick, 90, of Gainesville GA died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at her residence.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Pierce Newton and Caroline Johnson Haynes.  She attended Brenau College where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.  Ruth was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.  She was active in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, an amateur radio operator, and was in a local bowling league for over 30 years. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Eugene Murff, Jr. and her second husband Verner “Sug” Hamrick; her brother Daniel Hugh Haynes.

She is survived by her sons James Phillip Murff (Anne), Stephen Eugene Murff (Cindy); daughter Nancy Caroline Zimmerman (Brad); step-daughters, Brenda Matthews and Patricia “Patsy” Tatum (Jerry);  9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Beverly Perry.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Geoffrey Grubbs will officiate.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Little& Davenport Funeral Home Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 5-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to St. Paul United Methodist Church and Northeast Georgia Hospice of Gainesville.
