Wilburn E. Palmer Sr

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 6, 2017 at Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel for Wilburn E. Palmer Sr., age 71 of Gainesville. The Rev. Phil Carpenter and Rev. Robert Hicks will officiate. Interment will follow at Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Palmer passed away Sunday June 4, 2017.

Mr. Palmer was born in Hall County to the late Vance Palmer and Addie Mae Stover Palmer. He was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church where he served as a longtime Deacon. He was a chaplain for the V.F.W., D.A.V. and Nam Vets. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Palmer, and brothers, Wayne Palmer, and Billy Palmer.

Survivors include wife, Shirley Watkins Palmer, Gainesville, children, John Palmer, Wilburn Palmer Jr., Hallie Roper, all of Gainesville, sister, Lewella Chambers, Flowery Branch, grandchildren, Addie Palmer, and Hollis Palmer.
