James Daniel Sexton, Jr.

James Daniel Sexton, Jr. known as Dan or Danny was a native of Gainesville.  Dan, 74, of Hoschton, formerly of Buford, passed away due to an extended illness. He was born March 17, 1943 to the late J.D. Sexton and Annie Ruth Forrester Sexton of Gainesville.

Mr. Sexton is preceded in death by his father, James Sexton, Sr. and mother Annie Ruth Sexton; grandson, Travis Sexton; twin granddaughters, Juliana and Jillissa Sexton; several uncles, aunts, grandfather, Ira Forrester of Clermont.

Mr. Sexton is survived by his wife of 54 years in August, Linda Thompson Sexton; son and wife, Chad and Ruth Sexton of Lula; daughter Dana Gregory  and significant other Walt Britt of Buford; daughter, Olivia Jill Sexton of Hoschton; granddaughter, Chelsea Gregory and husband, Tripp Norton of Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Penelope Sexton of Hoschton his baby that gave him the will to live; granddaughter by marriage Tammy and Blake Farr of Gainesville; grandson by marriage Michael Seabolt of Lula; sister and husband, Patsy and Dennis Locklear of Dalton; brother and wife,  Johnny and Terri Sexton of Gainesville; aunt, Braganga Pitchford of Gainesville; aunt, Polly Bower and husband Warren of Cumming; aunt, Barbara Forrester of Flowery Branch; sister in law and husband, Sheila and Billy Patterson of Gainesville; brother in law, Jimmy Thompson of Gainesville; brother in law, Johnny Thompson of S.C. ; several nieces, nephews and cousin.

Mr. Sexton worked for Commercial Credit for 30 plus years, known as Citi Financial Today. He was a 1961 graduate of East Hall High School and a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church. 

He enjoyed golf, fishing, deer hunting, working in his yard and reading, especially reading his Bible. He dearly loved our fur baby Bella Grace.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Harmann will officiate. His nephew, Matt Delong will be speaking. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
