Norman David Davis

Obituary Date: Wednesday, June 28, 2017

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 1, 2017 at Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery for Norman David Davis, age 77 of Gillsville. The Rev. Marshall Dale and Rev. William Lipscomb will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Davis passed away Wednesday June 28, 2017 after an extended illness.

Mr. Davis was born December 9, 1939 in Hall County to the late James O. Davis and Dezzie Taylor Davis. He was a member of the first graduating class of North Hall High School in 1958. After graduating high school, he entered the U.S. Navy. He served on the destroyer USS Newman K. Perry in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs. He was a member of Lebanon United Methoist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, James, Nell and Jo.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Griffin Davis, daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Don Cheney, and two very special granddaughters, Melissa “Missy” Martin, and Alexandria Taylor Cheney. Additional family members include, Garrett Cordell, Bryan, Andrew and Lauren Martin, and siblings Marvin Davis and Cecil Buffington.
