Roy Daniel Cowart, Sr.

Mr. Roy Daniel Cowart, Sr., age 96, of Commerce, GA died Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Cowart was born in Franklin, NC to the late Claude and Hettie Farmer Cowart, Sr.  Mr. Cowart was a United States Army and Air Force veteran, and served in WWII and the Korean War.  He was retired from the telephone construction industry.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Cowart was preceded in death by his wife, Zuline Standridge Cowart; sister, Ira Lee Nunnley; and brothers, Ralph Cowart and George Cowart.

Mr. Cowart is survived by his daughters, Deobra Howington (Vaughn) of Commerce, Denise Gary (Kirby) of Commerce, and Wanda Ellis (Frank) of Carnesville; son, Danny Cowart of Commerce; sisters, Sue Lankford of Montrose and Dot Anthony of Center; brothers, Claude Cowart, Jr. of Commerce and Curtis Cowart of Marion, NC; special caregiver and family friend, Edwina Deaton; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 PM, Monday, July 3 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Parks officiating.  Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 PM.
