John A. Cowart, Sr.

Mr. John A. Cowart, Sr., 91, passed away on June 28, 2017. He was a United States Navy veteran who saw combat service in the Pacific during WWII. He is predeceased in death by his wife of 70 years, Frances Millsap Cowart, and his son, Ronald Wayne Cowart.

Mr. Cowart is survived by his son John Arvil Cowart, Jr. (Marie), and his daughter-in-law Susan Bell Cowart. He has 5 grandchildren, Nathan Cowart (Jenifer), Natalie Cowart, Drew Cowart, Adam Cowart, and Blake Cowart, as well as 4 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters Betty Thames (Melvin), Jean Smith (Harold), Patsy Lancaster (Johnny), Joyce Barrett (Jerry), and his brother-in-law Roy Millsap (Sarah), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:30am until 10:30am, Thursday, July 6th, 2017, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 10:30am, Thursday, July 6th, 2017, with reception following.

Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, at 2pm, Thursday, July 6th, 2017, with Military Honors.
