Linda Dianne Newsom

Obituary Date: Sunday, July 2, 2017

Linda Dianne Newsom is a name that will always exemplify what it means to be a true Southern lady. She innately balanced being warm, loving and supportive with the refreshing confidence of someone who spoke her mind and a great sense of humor. She was a devoted wife, mother, memaw and friend. She accomplished an incredible amount in her 69 years. From humble beginnings, she and her loving husband created a strong and lasting foundation for their family. Linda was strong, resourceful and hardworking. She loved hard and consistently. Her sons remember her as playful, supportive, strong and always, always there for them. She loved to make up songs and dance with the boys in the kitchen when they were young. Her sons' respect, love and devotion to her is evident to everyone who knows her. She treated her daughter-in-laws as the daughters she never had. She went out of her way to always let them know how thankful she was for them. She loved traditions. Christmas Eve was important to her and no one did it better. The gifts began at the tree and covered almost every inch of the living room. She absolutely adored and spoiled her grandchildren. She was often heard saying, "Memaw loves you sooooo much." One of her best qualities was her unconditional love. Having Linda in your corner meant you were never alone. It didn't matter if the whole world had given up on you because she never would. Many people have said, "she was there for me when no one else was." The amount of lives she touched and helped nurture along her 69 years are countless.

She completely adored her husband, Jerry. Their love is one for the books. They loved to dance to country classics, travel, spend time with family and friends and sit and be together on their porch in Dublin in recent years. They worked together, side by side, for 25 years. Together they created a company that began in the back of Jerry's truck and grew into a thriving business that supports their family and beyond. Lyrics from one of their favorite songs say, "a good hearted woman in love with a good timing man." Jerry has always given Linda credit for loving him when he wasn't at his most lovable. And in the more recent years of her life, Linda always gave Jerry credit for being her rock, taking exceptional care of her and said that she didn't know what she would do without him. Their love is a shining example of adherence to the marriage vows they said so many years ago.

Her legacy continues on with her husband Jerry Newsom, son Wade and daughter-in-law Robbie and their two daughters Taylor and Madison, son Chad and daughter-in-law Priscilla and their four children Kayla, Jacob, Hannah and Noah, son Jason and his daughter Ella, and J.R. and daughter-in-law Veronica and their son Silas.
