Mahlon Horace Thomas, age 75 of Gainesville, passed away July 9, 2017 following a sudden illness. Mahlon was born in Talmo, Georgia on December 31, 1941 to the late Horace Thomas and the late Grace Collins Thomas. Mahlon worked for Mr. Alan Duffton for 29 years at Milner’s and Burton’s Department Store, until he purchased his own store in 1988. From 1988 until the time of his passing, Mahlon operated Cannon’s Department in Clayton, Georgia. Mahlon was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mahlon was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Rev. Marlon Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Ann Ravan Thomas of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law April and Babe Kimbrell of Cleveland; son Sean Thomas of Talmo; grandson Caden Thomas of Clayton; step-granddaughter Katie Kimbrell of Sautee-Nacoochee; step-great grandson Roper Armour of Sautee-Nacoochee.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mahlon’s honor to Riverbend Baptist Church, 1715 Cleveland Highway Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Rev. Maxey Ladd will officiate. Interment will be held at Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Monday July, 10, 2017 at the funeral home.
